The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed himself in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty truck showcased in the tenth season. Instead, players are getting the family's everyday beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it remains an recognizable element of the series. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the identical collision model as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a series of challenges to earn more rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and drive a distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive rims with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
