Judicial Records Show Flight Fears

In a filing authorising the custody, the magistrate said data from the facility tracking Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the former leader's plan to remove the surveillance device to secure accomplishment in his flight.

This, it said, would be "facilitated by the chaos caused by the protest called by his offspring.

His son, his son Flávio, who works as a congressional representative, called for a gathering of his supporters near the former president's residence to take place on Saturday evening.

His son wrote on social media on last Friday: Will you battle for your nation, or observe everything from your phone there on your settee? I urge you to fight with us."

He said the gathering would be so backers could "pray for his well-being and for the return of democracy in our nation."

Embassy Asylum Concerns

Part of the magistrate's ruling was the possibility of the former president's transfer to embassies near the home, considering that the investigations revealed a background of organizing to request asylum through a consular facility", a statement said.

The legal document underscores that the US embassy in the federal district, Brazil's capital, is situated around 8 miles from the former president's residence.
